Career FAQ
Where do I get information on various
careers in the air force?
You should visit the Department's national recruiting Web site at http://www.recruiting.forces.gc.ca and
click on "Air Force" for an outline of the many careers
offered in today's air force. You can also call their toll free number
at 1-800-856-8488 or visit a recruiting centre nearest you (in the
yellow pages). Or, you can contact a Recruiting
Centre by sending
an email or fill out the job opportunities
questionnaire or by calling their Toll Free Number at 1 800 856-8488.

in Canada's Air Force.
How can I obtain a subsidized university education from the Canadian
Forces?
If you want to attend the Royal
Military College of Canada or be subsidized at a civilian university,
apply at a Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre. Call their toll free
number at 1-800-856-8488, or you can visit their Web
site and click on Air Force careers.
How can I join the Air Reserve?
Air force operations cannot be conducted without a wide range of
skilled, well-trained personnel. The Air Reserve targets occupationally
qualified personnel, such as former members of the regular force,
or civilian candidates whose qualifications equate to those of the
required military trades. Most air environment and support occupations
are available to reservists. Exact work schedules vary according
to home-unit requirements and member availability, but typically
range from four to 12 days per month.
Many of the pilots in the Air Reserve are former regular force pilots.
The pilot training program is not conducive to a part-time reservist.
There are exceptions, however, particularly for skilled civilian
pilots. The Air Reserve also recruits unskilled candidates for many
fields and ensures that all required occupational and military training
is provided.
For more information on the Air Reserve, please contact your local Canadian
Forces Recruiting Centre.
