Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Sonny Rose

IS2004-0541d - Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Sonny Rose familiarizes himself with the Payload Operator Controls for the Altair CU-163301. MWO Rose is the Senior Warrant Officer for the Helicopter Operational Test & Evaluation Facility (HOTEF) in Shearwater Nova Scotia. The Altair is a medium-altitude, long-endurance Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle (UAV) being operated from the Ground Control Station (GCS) in 5 Wing Goose Bay. The aircraft will conduct Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) activities over Baffin Island and Atlantic Canada.

HMCS Montreal's Sea King helicopter

IS2004-2123a - Crew members load cargo nets aboard HMCS Montreal's Sea King helicopter at the Pangnirtung airport during Exercise NARWHAL, taking place August 13-24 in the Cumberland Peninsula area of Baffin Island. The mission of Exercise NARWHAL, which involves about 600 CF personnel, is to train and conduct joint sovereignty operations in a remote northern area.

MCpl Laporte is a member of 403 Helicopter Operational Training Squadron in Gagetown, New Brunswick; he is currently serving with 430 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, the unit providing tactical air support to Task Force Bosnia-Herzegovina on Roto 9 of Operation PALLADIUM, Canada's contribution to the NATO Stabilization Force (SFOR).

Photo of Sergeant Ed Whitmore, an Imagery technician with the Canadian Forces Joint Imagery Centre located in Ottawa, seen flying in the backseat of a CF-18 fighter in formation with another CF-18. The CF-18's, from 433 Squadron at Canadian Forces Base Bagotville, are enroute to Ottawa to execute a flypast part of 60th anniversary D-Day ceremonies.
