FM300 was the only Lincoln B.Mk. XV ever purchased
by the RCAF, although a single Aircraft each of the Mk. I and Mk.II
also served with the RCAF for short periods. The XV was only on
strength from 17 August, 1946 to 4 March, 1947 and was originally
intended to be an enlarged version of the Lancaster X equipping
heavy bomber squadrons in the Pacific war. As a development of
the Lancaster, the Lincoln boasted a new nose section, a stretched
rear centre section of the fuselage, slightly enlarged rudders
with larger trim tabs, a new and larger outer wing together with
the more powerful Merlin 68 engines in new Nacelles of cylindrical
cross section.
