This Yukon displays the unique red and white roundels in use very briefly after the adoption of Canada's new flag in 1965. After a short trial period the more familiar blue, white and red roundel was once more brought back into use.

The Canadair CC-106 Yukon was the backbone of air transport for the RCAF for many years. Twelve Aircraft served from 1959 until 1971 when they were retired from service. A few still fly tramp freighter routes around the world for commercial carriers. The Aircraft has a top speed of 400 mph.

The Yukon or Canadair CL-44D used the same wing, tail surface, and undercarriage as the Bristol Britannia and CL-28 but with local strengthening to cater for increased weight. Direct operating costs were approximately 4 cents per ton-mile, a relatively small price to pay for a considerable payload. To illustrate, it could carry 2 CF-104 Starfighters, complete with engines, and fly them to Canadian bases in Germany non-stop.
