The blades on a CH-124A Sea King, flown by a crew from
423 Maritime Helicopter Squadron, 12 Wing Shearwater, are unfolded before
engine start. The main rotor blades and tail on the helicopter can easily
fold in order to accommodate them in the small hangars on board the navy's

assigned surface and sub-surface surveillance, counter-drug operations,
coastal sovereignty, environmental monitoring, fisheries patrols, limited
reconnaissance/land surveillance, utility and helicopter delivery service,
the Sea King fleet is also tasked with secondary search and rescue, when
required.
