22 WING - NORTH BAY : COMMUNITY |
||
|
An active Personnel Support Program (PSP) team at 22 Wing provides a number of recreational activities, facilities, mess and family support programs to the base community. Among the facilities you'll find is a recreation complex with squash and racquetball courts, rock climbing wall, and a 25 metre swimming pool. Those working shifts in the underground complex can maintain their fitness at the weight training and cardio room equipped with treadmills and stationary bikes. There are a number of active clubs and organizations on the base including an auto and motorcycle club, 22 Wing Cottage Club, swim teams, shooting and wood hobby clubs as well as programs in ceramics and curling. The base is located in the heart of North Bay - a nature-loving northern Ontario town surrounded by Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake. Naturally, it is a popular retirement posting. While fishing, canoeing, boating are common recreational pursuits, the town offers a variety of tourist, recreation and lifestyle programs for all tastes. You'll also find a mix of community organizations. 406 Squadron provides a regular meeting place for those interested in military or civilian aviation. |
