Air Force personnel deployed in the Arabian Gulf Region now have a little taste of home, thanks to the efforts of 22 Wing North Bay Honorary Colonel, Phil Richardson and Tim Horton's.
A CC-150 Polaris (Airbus A310) arrived safely in theatre yesterday carrying a load of coffee for deployed personnel. HCol Richardson, an entrepreneur and retail property developer in North Bay, recently asked Tim Horton's to donate a kilogram of coffee to each of the 300 air personnel deployed in the Arabian Gulf Region. The corporation agreed immediately, and the 820 pounds of Tim's arrived safely yesterday.
I just got an e-mail confirming the load arrived, said HCol Richardson. They're pretty happy over there. HCol Richardson said Tim Horton's was enthusiastic about supporting the Canadian Forces overseas and were agreeable to doing whatever they could, provided we helped them with the logistics.
HCol Richardson researched the logistics and within a short span of time, the coffee was loaded up in Kingston and delivered to 8 Wing Trenton where members of 2 Air Movements Squadron prepared the coffee for safe transport aboard the Airbus.
HCol Richardson has served as the 22 Wing Honorary Colonel for the past 12 years. He was recently presented with a Canadian Forces Decoration for his service to the CF.
