This award is given when an aircraft accident or serious incident is averted or reduced in severity by a timely, skillful, devoted, or professional act that is clearly outstanding and/or above and beyond the call of duty. (Acts that are within the call of duty may also qualify if exceptional circumstances exist, but normally such acts fall within the scope of the For Professionalism Award.)
