A6 Telecom Information Services
A6 (TIS/IM) is the Commander's principal advisor and staff officer on
telecommunications and information management matters. A6 provides advice
and guidance to wing telecommunications and information management staff,
and coordinates the implementation and support of national and command
information systems within 1 Cdn Air Div.
As the senior communications officer in 1 Cdn Air Div, A6 advises on occupation
training and employment of CELE officers and C&E Branch NCMs in 1 Cdn Air Div. A6 is also responsible for providing TIS staff for the AOC and to
deployed forces such as ACHQ.
The A6 branch strives to provide timely and effective telecommunications
and information services in support of air operations. A6 IM provides
advice and guidance on management of information resources and use of
the Internet and DIN to distribute and manage information holdings.
A6 Operations (A6Ops)
- Participates in the development of plans and force generation for
tasked operations and missions. This includes deployment plans for 8
ACCS, tactical control radar, and contingency support TIS squadrons.
A6 Ops also directs the Information Operations cell within the AOC.
A6 Information Technology Security (ITSEC)
- Plans and manages the use of COMSEC materiel, and supports information
operations and the maintenance of information system accreditation and
certification. A6 ITSEC also provides admin support to the branch.
A6 Reserves (A6Res)
- Develops TIS reserve occupations and employment opportunities in 1 Cdn Air Div and provides liaison with the Communication Reserve.
A6 Infrastructure (A6Infra)
- Supports network and communication systems and new IM projects through
WTIS organizations.
A6 Information Services (A6InfoSvcs)
- Plans and develops new command and control information systems and
manages the Air Battle Lab, a support and test facility for C2IS.
