A7 Plans & Doctrine

A7 Plans & Doc assists the Commander and staff of 1 Cdn Air Div/CANR and subordinate formations in defining, developing, promoting, and confirming the airforce's mission and vision. To accomplish these activities, A7 is accountable for the provision of relevant doctrine, policies, operational level strategic plans, operational requirements, force structure and resource management.

In addition, the organization fulfils a Commander's secretariat role in the formulation of guidance and in the resolution of resource management issues affecting the longer-term capability of 1 Cdn Air Div/CANR. The organization is comprised of two principal components - A7 Force Development & Doctrine and A7 Requirements & Business plans.


A7 Force Development & Doctrine

  • Develops and maintains optimum force structures, within mandated or desired force levels, to meet the requirements of 1 Cdn Air Div force generation and force employment mandates.
  • Develops and refines doctrine, and operational level concepts to provide the basis for the employment of air power.
  • Develops the near to medium term vision for air force capabilities and implementation plans to address deficiencies.
  • Revises and updates airforce capability based plans.
  • Acquires and manages operational and capability planning support tools.

A7 Requirements & Business Plans

  • Validates operationa requirements, including Aircraft Life Support Equipment, against current policy, doctrine and the longer term vision.
  • Co-ordinates creation of 1 Cdn Air Div/CANR Planning Guidance, outlining priorities, expectations and resources for assigned tasks.
  • Manages the review and approval of Wing Level 3 business plans and the development of the 1 Cdn Air Div/CANR Level 2 business plan.
  • Develops a performance measurement system and co-ordinates analysis of reports.
