Dinosaurs Dine at NAC!

October 16, 2003 -

Ottawa -- The National Arts Centre English Theatre is delighted to welcome Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia to the NAC Studio to open the 2003-2004 Family Theatre Series with their delightful production, When Dinosaurs Dine by Moonlight by Sheree Fitch and directed by Jim Morrow. The play, suitable for children ages 5 to 9 and their families, runs October 25 at 13:00, 15:00 and 19:00, and October 26 at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00. Limited tickets are available at the NAC Box Office and are $11 for adults and children.

The delightfully whimsical story of When Dinosaurs Dine by Moonlight follows the adventures of a young boy who meets a collection of extraordinary dinosaurs as they parade by his window at bedtime. He's frightened yet fascinated and soon becomes a welcome member of their gathering. The construction of the dinosaurs for this visually exciting production is based on a traditional puppet style called a "marionette" in which the object is suspended from strings. In the case of these dining dinos, the company has included both the conventional sized marionette, as well as an expanded version for the larger creatures, bringing these fantastic creatures to vivid life.

Mermaid Theatre ranks among North America's most respected theatres for the young, and the company's unique adaptations of children's literature have served to introduce more than 3 million spectators on four continents to the magic of live theatre.

When Dinosaurs Dine by Moonlight features the talents of Alexis Milligan, Shane Monk and Jeffrey Schwager with narration by Bill Carr. Alexa Carroll is Stage Manager for the production.

LIMITED Tickets are available through Ticketmaster at (613) 755-1111 or in person at the NAC Box Office, 53 Elgin Street.
