Family Theatre counts its blessings with Beggar Boy by Greg MacArthur
November 18, 2004 -
Ottawa -- Just in time for Christmas, the NAC Family Theatre Series presents Greg MacArthur’s superb play for young audiences, Beggar Boy a delightful, entertaining, and eye-opening look at consumerism, designed with kids in mind. Beggar Boy runs in the National Arts Centre Studio, November 27 and 28 with performances on Saturday at 13:00, 15:00 and 19:00, and on Sunday at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00. Tickets are $11.50 (Adults and Children) and are available at the NAC Box Office in person, or via Ticketmaster at (613) 755-1111.
On the night of his 10th birthday Zac runs away and disappears into the heart of the city, a magical, sometimes scary place, full of talking billboards that beckon him deeper into the consumer world, a world where every dream is possible at a price.
Beggar Boy takes us on a remarkable journey of self-discovery, asking us to see the beauty and value in the people we know, the stories we hear, and the world around us.
