YELLOWKNIFE – A CF-18 Hornet fighter pilot of 410 “Cougar” Squadron at 4 Wing Cold Lake sustained non-life threatening injuries when he ejected from his aircraft shortly after landing at 8:16 a.m. Mountain time today at the Yellowknife airport.
The main runway at the Yellowknife Airport will remain closed until the aircraft can be moved.
The pilot remains in hospital in Yellowknife.
The CF-18 departed the runway after landing, coming to rest in the infield, the grassy area surrounding the runways. The pilot ejected while the aircraft was sliding off the runway.
The cause of the accident is unknown and is under investigation by the Air Force Director of Flight Safety.
