National Arts Centre Orchestra musicians will help launch the 2005 Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival
August 31, 2005 - Ottawa -- The 18th edition of the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival will take off in style on Friday, September 2, to the strains of lively music performed by members of the National Arts Centre Orchestra and colleagues from the region. The music begins at approximately 5:30.
The Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival Brass Quintet, an ensemble specially created for the event, comprises five musicians well known in the Ottawa-Gatineau area for their participation in the NAC’s Musicians in the Schools programme. They are: John Ellis (trumpet), Chris Lane (trumpet), Angus Armstrong (trombone), Don Renshaw (trombone), and Tim Keels (tuba). The quintet will play a bit of everything, from Renaissance to ragtime, with a definite preference for popular tunes and lush harmonies.
Canada’s National Arts Centre and its orchestra are proud to be associated with an event as dynamic and popular as the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival.
