Ottawa, Canada -- Applications are now being accepted for the 2007 National Arts Centre Summer Music Institute’s Young Composers Programme taking place June 21-27, 2007, under the leadership of Music Director Pinchas Zukerman and Lead Composer Gary Kulesha. The deadline is December 11, 2006. The Young Composers Programme is designed for those at a graduate level of study or higher or who have equivalent experience and are preparing for a professional career in composition. The programme is for those 35 years of age and under.
Five composers will be selected by application to participate in this intense programme of study in the summer of 2007 at the NAC for 7 days (June 21-27, 2007). Those selected will receive full financial support. Participants will be required to write, in advance of the programme, a new work of 7-10 minutes in length for a professional ensemble of up to 12 parts.
