National Arts Centre's fundraising gala featuring Renée Fleming and Pinchas Zukerman sets another record raising $525,000 for the National Youth and Education Trust
September 25, 2002 -
Ottawa, Canada -- The National Arts Centre's sixth annual
fund-raising Gala, featuring the sensational soprano Renée
Fleming and the National Arts Centre Orchestra led by Music Director
Pinchas Zukerman, has surpassed the record set the previous year by
netting a spectacular $525,000. All proceeds from the September 18
Gala go to the National Arts Centre's National Youth and
Education Trust, a primary resource for supporting the artistic
development of young Canadian talent.
Darrell Gregersen, Executive Director of Development and CEO of
the National Arts Centre Foundation, said: "Brilliant as the artistry
on stage was, it was equalled by the remarkable performance of the
concertgoers and sponsors whose support has allowed us to surpass the
amazing results of last year's gala. This support builds our
capacity for national and international training programmes, master
classes and workshops, internet education, young audience
development, the creation of new works by and for young people in the
performing arts. Bravo everyone! I thank the Gala Committee for their
hard work, with a special thank you to Maestro Pinchas Zukerman and
the musicians of the NAC Orchestra who donated their services for the
evening."
