Thomas Hampson's Monday, Nov. 24 recital postponed due to illness

Ottawa (Canada) -- Baritone Thomas Hampson has been obliged to postpone his recital scheduled to take place at the National Arts Centre on Monday, November 24 due to illness. However the NAC has rescheduled the recital, part of the NAC Orchestra's Great Performers series, to Sunday, February 15 at 14:00 in the afternoon. Ticketholders are asked to retain their tickets to use on the new date. Refunds or exchanges are available at the NAC Box Office for those unable to attend.
A master class that Hampson was scheduled to give on Tuesday, November 25 at the NAC has been cancelled.
The programme for Thomas Hampson's recital in February is expected to remain the same. Hampson will perform two sets of lieder by Hugo Wolf to texts by Eduard Mörike and by Goethe, and two sets by Gustav Mahler: Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen (Songs of a Wayfarer) to texts by Mahler, and songs to texts by Friedrich Rückert.
The November 24 recital was part of a major international symposium on composer Hugo Wolf at the University of Ottawa from November 23-26, in honour of the 100th anniversary of the death of this Austrian composer. The rest of the symposium is continuing as scheduled.
Tickets for the February 15 Great Performers recital featuring baritone Thomas Hampson can be purchased for $25.00, $39.00, 41.00, $49.00 and 51.00, with box seats at $60.50 (GST and Facility Fee included) at the NAC Box Office (Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 21:00), and through Ticketmaster (with surcharges) at 613-755-1111. Ticketmaster may also be accessed through the NAC's web-site at www.nac-cna.ca. Half-price tickets for students in all sections of the hall are on sale in person at the NAC Box Office upon presentation of a valid student ID card.
