Final FYI Talk on May 8 features NAC Young Artists Programme

The National Arts Centre Orchestra Association (NACOA) has a special event for its last-of-the -season Saturday morning FYI (For Your Information) series on Saturday, May 8 at 10:30 a.m.. Thaddeus Morden, cellist, will perform and Christy Harris, Programme Administrator for the Young Artists' Programme, will discuss the history, present activities and future plans of that important component of the National Arts Centre Orchestra's music education programme.
For the past two years, Thaddeus has been a participant in the NAC's Young Artists' Programme and since the summer of 1999 has been a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. He began playing the cello at the age of 6 and is currently studying with NACO principal cellist Amanda Forsyth as well as Margaret Munro Tobolowska. He has competed regularly in the Ottawa Kiwanis Music Festival, winning many scholarships - including the Pomer Family Memorial Scholarship three times. He was also the recipient of the New Sun Orchestral Student Bursary of the Community Foundation of Ottawa-Carleton at the NACO Bursary Competition and the winner of the Capital Concerto Competition where he performed the first movement of Boccherino's concerto in B flat major with Thirteen Strings.
This will be a stimulating and informative morning for all music lovers in the Ottawa area. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.
