NAC Orchestra led by Mario Bernardi featured in Live From Rideau Hall -- a free outdoor concert and CBC Television/Radio-Canada broadcast on June 16

Ottawa, Canada -- To mark the 50th anniversary of
Canadians as Governors General, Her Excellency the Right Honourable
Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada, is hosting a free
outdoor concert of Canadian stars on the grounds of Rideau Hall on
Sunday, June 16 at 19:00. It will also be televised on CBC and
Radio-Canada, live to Ontario and east at 19:00 (20:00 AT, 20:30 NT)
and 19:00 in Manitoba and west. The concert features the National
Arts Centre Orchestra led by its Conductor Laureate Mario Bernardi
along with some of the biggest names in Canadian music, both
classical and popular.
The National Arts Centre Orchestra programme will include
Mozart's Marriage of Figaro Overture; pianist Jon Kimura
Parker performing an excerpt from Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on
a Theme of Paganini, tenor Richard Margison performing his
signature piece "Nessun Dorma" from Turandot, and soprano
Measha Brueggergosman performing "Ebben, ne andro lontana" from La
Wally. Brueggergosman and Margison will appear together in duet
for the first time singing "Tonight" from West Side Story.
Other artists performing with the NAC Orchestra are Celtic fiddler
Natalie MacMaster, Inuit singer Susan Aglukark and R&B; star
Deborah Cox making her symphony orchestra debut.
The concert will also include folksinger Gordon Lightfoot, the
Barenaked Ladies, The Canadian Brass, Les Violons du Roy, the Quartet
François Bourassa, country singer Paul Brandt, pop singer
Mario Pelchat with The Voices of Praise and La Bottine Souriante.
No tickets are required to attend the concert live in person at
Rideau Hall on Sunday, June 16 at 19:00. Arrive early and enjoy a
pre-concert special appearance by Stompin' Tom at 18:00.
