NAC Orchestra increases the educational value of its Student Open Rehearsal Programme with Corus Entertainment Music Classes for Kids
January 07, 2003 -
Ottawa, Canada -- With the support of Corus Entertainment, the
National Arts Centre Orchestra has enhanced its Student Open
Rehearsal program by offering special introductory and follow-up
lectures to a selection of schools in the National Capital
Region.
Corus Entertainment Music Classes for Kids consist of a featured
musician or guest artist of the National Arts Centre Orchestra
visiting the participating school a few days prior to a Student Open
rehearsal to present an introduction to the music and performers
featured on the upcoming concert program. Immediately after attending
the Open Rehearsal, the students will meet once again with the artist
for a follow-up lecture. Each Music Class includes a
question-and-answer period.
Participating speakers to date include Pinchas Zukerman, Music
Director of the NAC Orchestra, who will lead the first session on
Wednesday, January 8 with students of SuzukiMusic; Donnie Deacon,
principal second violin of the NAC Orchestra; and Alexina Louie, NAC
Awards Composer.
"With this new hands-on addition to the Student Open Rehearsals
experience, Corus Entertainment continues to support the musical
development of young Canadians. These students will now have an
exclusive opportunity to interact with musical legends of our time,"
said Kerry Morgan, Vice President of Communications, Corus
Entertainment.
