National Arts Centre offers free music education kits to every elementary school in Canada
August 27, 2003 -
Ottawa (Canada) - The National Arts Centre (NAC) today announced that every elementary school in Canada will be sent a free teacher Mozart resource kit and accompanying CD.
Let's Go Mozart! is a 32-page guide celebrating the life and times and music of Wolfgang Amadé Mozart that has been prepared in support of the National Arts Centre Orchestra's upcoming tour of the United States and Mexico. The CBC Records double CD recording of Mozart's music, which accompanies the kit, features Pinchas Zukerman and the National Arts Centre Orchestra.
"The National Arts Centre is proud to offer this exciting music education tool to teachers," said Peter Herrndorf, President and CEO of the NAC. "Children need exposure to the arts and the NAC is delighted to be able to play a role in helping our country's dedicated teachers introduce their students to the power of music and the magic of Mozart."
The NAC Orchestra will tour the United States and Mexico from October 31 to November 16. The Tour is being presented by Export Development Canada (EDC), which provides trade finance and insurance services to Canadian exporters and investors abroad. The Tour's education partner is HSBC.
As part of previous National Arts Centre Orchestra tours, education kits on Vivaldi, Beethoven and Student Newspaper Guides on Schubert were also sent to schools across Canada.
