Ottawa Storytellers returns for another season at Fourth Stage January 20, 19:30
January 19, 2005 -
Ottawa -- Ottawa Storytellers returns to the Fourth Stage for another season of performances that will entertain, move and delight.
This adult English storytelling series begins Thursday with Winter Sunshine tales to make you laugh and banish the winter blues. The tellers (Gail Anglin, Catherine Sheehan and Bob Margeson) promise two great tales of life in a Newfoundland outport, stories of Treehorn the boy to whom amazing things happen yet no one else seems to notice and the story of The Great Piratical Rumbustification, the wildest party in town!
Storytelling is among the most ancient of arts. This age-old tradition fuses the teller, listeners and the tale: the storyteller gives the tale, the listener receives it, responds out of their own being, and the story comes alive.
Ottawa Storytellers was founded in 1983 with the goal of fostering and promoting the tradition of oral storytelling. Over the years the group has nurtured many talented storytellers through its monthly storytelling open stages at the National Library and Archives, Epic Tales series at Rasputin’s Cafe, Fourth Stage series and their annual Ottawa Storytellers Festival now in its 17th year.
Tickets are $15 or $10 for students; buy the series package before January 20 for only $60. Tickets are available at the NAC Box Office (in person) or through Ticketmaster (with surcharges) at 613-755-1111. Ticketmaster can also be accessed through the NAC’s website at www.nac-cna.ca.
