Contes nomades returns for another season at Fourth Stage January 21, 20:00
January 19, 2005 -
Ottawa -- Contes nomades returns to the Fourth Stage for another season of performances that will entertain and engage their audiences in an intimate setting.
This French storytelling series begins Friday with Les Chasses-galeries a retelling of a classic legend. Lumberjacks from the Upper Gatineau sail off in a flying canoe to escape the loneliness of their isolated logging camps on New Year’s Eve. But the price for their freedom is high a pact with the Devil for their souls. This telling explores the legend deeper, asking the questions: where is the hunt? And where is the gallery?
Contes nomades was founded in 2002 to foster the appreciation of the ancient art of storytelling both as an oral tradition and a performing art. Contes nomades also seeks to promote the exploration and sharing of oral storytelling and stories, whether locally, regionally or internationally, formally or informally.
Tickets are $15 and are available at the NAC Box Office (in person) or through Ticketmaster (with surcharges) at 613-755-1111. Ticketmaster can also be accessed through the NAC’s website at www.nac-cna.ca.
