OTTAWA -- This year the Black and White Opera Soiree is entitled From Vienna to Broadway, and that’s exactly the delightful musical journey which patrons will embark upon on Saturday, February 19 at 20:00 in the National Arts Centre’s Southam Hall. A feast of magical music, the Black and White Opera Soiree features memorable melodies from some of the best-loved operettas and Broadway musicals of the 20th century – performed by some of the best voices and musicians in the business. Headlining the 8th annual Black and White Opera Soiree will be host Colm Feore, Canada’s own coloratura soprano, Tracy Dahl, baritone Theodore Baerg, and tenor Chad Freeburg. The National Arts Centre Orchestra will be conducted by the NAC’s Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly, and the Opera Lyra Ottawa Chorus will be featured.

Selections from From Vienna to Broadway include: Franz Lehár: The Merry Widow Overture, Polonaise, and Vilia; Yours is My Heart Alone from TheLand of Smiles; Rudolph Friml: Song of the Vagabonds from The Vagabond King and The Donkey Serenade from Firefly; Sigmund Romberg: The Student Marching Song from The Student Prince; Cole Porter: Kiss Me, Kate; Wright and Forrest: Kismet; Lerner and Loewe: Gigi and Andrew Lloyd Webber: Phantom of the Opera

Developed by Jack Everly, From Vienna to Broadway features popular favourites and memorable melodies from operettas and Broadway musicals.
