The National Arts Centre and media partner CBC Radio One shine a spotlight on the arts at ArtsFair on Wednesday, September 22 at the NAC with the participation of La Première Chaîne de Radio-Canada

On Wednesday, September 22, 2004, from 10:00 to 18:00, the Foyer of the National Arts Centre will be alive with food, fun, celebrities, artists, and the sights and sounds of many of Ottawa’s professional performing arts companies at ArtsFair. Make it your one-stop shop to get all the information you need about hundreds of upcoming performances. Music, dance, theatre find out about all of them from the people who know them best and enjoy a live piano performance by Jon Kimura Parker, a free NAC Orchestra rehearsal, a live broadcast of CBC Radio One’s popular All in a Day (hosted by Brent Bambury), and live on-air interviews conducted by Mélanie Riendeau for Fréquence on La Première Chaîne de Radio-Canada.

The National Arts Centre Orchestra will have an open rehearsal of ‘Russian Romance’, the opening concert of the 2004-2005 season. The concert features Rachmaninov’s Symphony No. 2 in E minor led by NAC Music Director Pinchas Zukerman as well as Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 performed by Canadian Jon Kimura Parker.

12:00 13:00 Fourth Stage ~ Lunchtime Reading: A Young Poet ($15.50, $8.75 students) National Arts Centre French Theatre marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of poet Arthur Rimbaud (18541891). Series artistic coordinator Paul Lefebvre has designed a survey of the life and work of “the man with soles of wind”. Pierre Simpson reads the early poems (in French), accompanied by Ottawa pianist Jean Desmarais.
