17 Wing is located within the City of Winnipeg, close to the geographic heart of Canada. The city offers all the amenities one would expect of a modern metropolis, while the base itself adds a wide range of social and recreational activities.

17 Wing has developed a strong relationship with Winnipeg and is very much involved in the local community. The Wing participates in various charitable events such as the United Way, Canadian Cancer Society, the Terry Fox Run and, of course, civic help when requested by the authorities.

Excluding the three levels of governments, 17 Wing is currently the fourth largest employer in the City of Winnipeg.

Many clubs operate at 17 Wing under the Community Recreation Director. The Winnipeg Military Family Resource Centre provides information and family support services to the Winnipeg military community.

Outside the base, you'll find a variety of recreational activities ranging from bicycle paths winding along the three urban rivers to professional sporting events.

Winnipeg is home to many professional sporting organizations, including the Winnipeg Blue Bombers football team. It boasts many museums and interesting places to visit. The city hosts many festivals throughout the year. Whether your interests lie in the form of recreation, cultural or business, Winnipeg has something to offer.
