19 Wing Comox Personnel Support Programs

Personnel Support ProgramsThe Fitness, Sports and Recreation Section at 19 Wing offers a range of activities for military members and their families.

Among those offered are intramural and base team leagues, personal fitness programs, recreation clubs and Red Cross Learn to Swim programs.

A new $10M multi-purpose was recently constructed at 19 Wing as part of the PSP Re-Capitalization Program. The new complex replaces the gymnasium on the base that had been built just after WWII. The new facilities will also accommodate the Military Family Resource Centre, previously housed in a 1950's structure originally designed as private married quarters for Transport Canada employees.

The new 6,800-square-metre complex (gym, pool and arena) includes:

  • 31-metre-by-42-metre gymnasium floor
  • Six-lane, 25-metre pool
  • Two squash courts
  • Rooms for stationary equipment and weights
  • Multipurpose room for aerobics, with storage and change rooms
  • 500-seat Glacier Gardens Arena

A Community Center that houses:

  • Teen club
  • Drop-in babysitting service
  • Computer club/training room.
  • Craft clubroom
  • Large, divisible multipurpose room
  • Kitchen/serving area for community functions.

Other facilities managed by the PSP Team include a skateboard park, outdoor basketball court, track, soccer pitch and ball diamonds.

Some of the active clubs you'll find at 19 Wing include auto and wood hobby clubs, badminton, karate, kayaking, scuba diving, hiking, sailing and windsurfing. You can find out more information by contacting the 19 Wing PSP staff.

At 19 Wing, the PSP team also manages one of the nicest golf courses in the Canadian Forces - The Glacier Greens Golf Course and Social Centre. The 18 hole, par 71 championship course includes a driving range and on-site professional.

19 Wing also offers the Tee Park Campground and Air Force Beach. The 80-site campground offers a picturesque view of Georgia Strait and mainland mountains. Water, power, shower and laundry facilities are provided, along with a fully paved boat launch and newly renovated beach pavilion. Seasonal, weekly or daily passes are available to Canadian Forces and associate members. For information on all of these recreational programs and facilities at 19 Wing, contact the PSP Team at (250) 339-8211 ext 8542. E-mail:
