1 Wing - General Information

1 Wing Badge

1 Wing Badge
Like the squadrons of 1 Wing, the bat on its badge navigates and hunts with radar, flying both in light and darkness. It is capable of slow and rapid flights and can function as an agile hunter or a relentless pursuer.

1 Wing motto
PACEM ARMATUS AMO (Peaceful yet armed)

Commanding Officer of 1 Wing
Colonel Mike Dabros

Location of 1 Wing
1 Wing Headquarters is based in Kingston, Ont., while its six helicopter squadrons are situated in Borden and Petawawa, ON., Gagetown, NB., Edmonton, Alta., Valcartier and St-Hubert, PQ.

Weather
The 5-day forcecast for Kingston can be found at Environment Canada's weather office.

Total Force
1 Wing is a pioneer of Total Force. This concept brings part-time and full-time Canadian Forces members together to work as one team. Total Force can be seen in action, particularly at 400 and 438 Tactical Helicopter Squadrons(THS). Reservists provide operational support to 408 THS, 430 ETAH and 427 THS as well. Their support is essential given the wide variety of tasks the squadrons are called upon to perform.

Population of 1 Wing
With its full complement of the headquarters and its six squadrons, the population of 1 Wing is in the order of 1,600 serving members. This includes more than 500 reservists.
