The Centre for the Study of Living Standards is a non-profit, national, independent organization that seeks to contribute to a better understanding of trends in and determinants of productivity, living standards and economic and social well-being through research.
Announcements & Recent Releases:
On December 8, 2006, the CSLS released a new research report “The Role of Labour Market Information for Adjustment: International Comparisons ” . This report examines approaches in the provision of Labour Market Information in five OECD countries (Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States and Australia) in order to assess the efficiency of these approaches in facilitating adjustments in labour markets. The report is now available in the CSLS Research Reports section of the website and also under the HRSDC-IC-SSHRC Skills Research Initiative Working Paper Series: 2006-C 14 .
On November 20, 2006, the Fall 2006 issue of the International Productivity Monitor was released on the CSLS website in English and French . This issue of the Monitor contains five articles and has a strong Canadian flavour. Topics covered are the benchmarking
of Canadian economic performance by Jean-Philippe Cotis , policies for improving productivity growth in Canada by Don Drummond ,
Canada-U.S. differences in hours worked by Alberto Isgut, Lance Bialas and James Milway , the impact of terms of trade on Canada by Ulrich Kohli , and the measurement

“Lessons for Canada from International Productivity Experience ” , a new CSLS research report is now available in the CSLS Research Reports section of the website.
