MANAGER'S MESSAGE
It is my sincere pleasure to welcome
you to our 4 Wing Community. As you discover the many programs and
services this Wing has to offer, you will also notice a particular
emphasis on Family. Through the dedication of our Staff and the combined
efforts of many stakeholders in "partnership through
recreation", we are able to offer
the Community an unparalleled level of service and value at every venue
and event.
Whether you are new to 4 Wing or rediscovering the area,
you will be amazed at the growth and sophistication of services and
infrastructure. The Colonel J.J. Parr Sports Centre is phenomenal;
the Staff offer some of the highest quality and diverse programming
to be found anywhere. Our newly opened Northern Spirit Leisure Centre
also boast unsurpassed customer service and offers 4 season recreational
opportunities in a breathtaking natural setting. The Courier Newspaper
continues to be our voice to the military families and surrounding
community. This weekly communiqué serves as a means
to educate the Community on various military focused topics, quality
of life issues and promote esprit de corps, thus improving relationships
between various entities within our Community as a whole. The Cold
Lake Air Force Museum (CLAFM) serves as a vehicle to educate the community
of our heritage and honour the achievements of the past while providing
a springboard to the future and provides enjoyment to all military
history enthusiasts.
Col J.J. Parr Recreation Centre
The
Col J.J. Parr Recreation Centre is indeed the premier fitness facility
of its kind in northern Alberta. This fully modern, multi-use complex
covers an area of over three acres and includes: Two NHL size ice surfaces,
an Aquatics Centre featuring a six lane 25 metre competition pool,
a 10 x 15 metre leisure pool, water slide, hot tub and sauna. A main
gymnasium featuring 2 NBA-sized basketball courts, 8 badminton courts,
3 volleyball courts and a European handball court. 3 Squash Courts

Northern Spirit Leisure Centre
The Northern Spirit Leisure
Centre is another local facility, which offers both curling and golf.
The six-sheet curling rink is home to various bonspiels and tournaments,
while the Pro-shop serves one of Northern Alberta's finest 18 hole
golf courses. There are two stellar 18-hole courses within Cold Lake
and a third in the nearby town of Bonnyville. For more information,

The
Courier Newspaper
The Courier is CFB Cold Lake's weekly newspaper. With
a weekly distribution of 2,700 it keeps the more than 2,900 Canadian
Forces personnel serving at 4 Wing Cold Lake well informed. As a community
newspaper, it also reaches the families of serving members, and the
many civilian employees who work in support roles on the base.
The Courier can also assist you with your advertising and publishing
needs. We pride ourselves on top quality publications that assist internal
communications within the military community. Among the highly trained
staff are an advertising consultant and a graphic design team with
creativity and dedication to make your advertisement produce results.
