441 Tactical Fighter Squadron441 Squadron has a complement of 200 dedicated and professional officers and non-commissioned members to fulfil its assigned dual roles of air defence and ground attack. The CF-18 Aircraft is ideally suited to the squadron's roles, performing both tasks with an unprecedented high degree of effectiveness.

The current members of 441 Squadron stand ready to conduct whatever air defence or contingency operations the Government of Canada should task them with and are justly proud of their squadron's heritage and tradition. They work extremely hard to ensure that they, and their CF-18 aircraft, maintain the professional standards set throughout the distinguished history of the Silver Fox Squadron.

Although not tasked as a unit to deploy to the Persian Gulf during the conflict in 1991, personnel from 441 Squadron did participate in Op Friction.

A number of pilots and ground crew were stationed in Qatar from as early as November 1990 to April 1991. During this time pilots from 441 Squadron carried out the first combat missions flown by Silver Fox members since the spring of 1945.

In 1999, during a period covering April to November, the Silver Foxes flew
combat missions against the former Yugoslavia with other Canadian and
Allied forces pilots.

Between the dates of 24 March and 10 June 99, 441 Squadron, flying the
CF-188 Hornet, was again called upon to make peace in the world, by taking
part in the Kosovo Air Campaign. Over 100 Silver Foxes played an integral
part in the success of Op Allied Force. Throughout the campaign our
personnel made all of Canada proud by doing more with less than any other
nation involved in the operation.

The efforts of the pilots, ground crews, and support personnel combined to
generate an incredible 10% of the Allied Force Battlefield Air Interdiction (BAI) flights, arguably one of the most dangerous of all missions flown. This was but one of the many different mission types that they flew, with less than 2% of the combat aircraft available in theatre.

Maintenance personnel worked tirelessly to not only produce a staggering
99.4% aircraft availability rate (second to none amongst the Allies), but
also load and reload a multitude of different Air Weapon configurations,
ensuring their aircraft were ready on a moment's notice to fulfill
their commitment.

Their Pilots were among the most successful of all Allied Force Pilots.
Leading over half of all packages that they were involved in, they flew a
major portion of the 678 combat sorties flown, and logged nearly 2700 hours. Silver Foxes delivered more than their fair share of an astonishing 532 bombs (500lbs GP Mk 82's, 500lbs laser guided GBU-12's and 2000lbs laser guided GBU-10's), totalling more than one half million
pounds of High Explosive Ordinance.
