NEW ARRIVALS
REPORTING-IN INFORMATION
Single or unaccompanied personnel arriving at the Wing after normal working
hours (0730 to 1530 hours) are to report to the Wing Guard House in order
to receive their room key and ration card. All personnel arriving for duty
at 19 Wing are to report to the Wing Orderly Room (WOR), Bldg 45, Wing Headquarters,
between 0830 and 1430 hrs. Personnel will report in proper military attire.
Members will be issued a PLCC Card and from there will proceed to the various
sections for “In clearance.”
Pay & Claims
All requests for further advances with respect to your relocation must
be directed to the Royal LePage Staff. The Royal LePage IRP Office is located within
the Wing HQ, Bldg 45. The cashier at 19 Wing is available to issue pay and claim
(TD) advances between the hours of 0830 to 1200 and 1230 to 1430 hrs, Monday
through Friday.
Banking Arrangements
Members will receive their pay via direct deposit to a financial institution.
Paydays are the 15th and last day of the month. There are a good number of banks
and credit unions in the Comox Valley to choose from. Banking arrangements
are completed at the WOR through presentation of your account details.
Non-Public Funds
The Non-Public Funds Section, Rm #5 Bldg 45, is open from 0730
to 1530 hrs daily. The NPF Cashier is open mornings only from 0730 to
1200hrs.
B.C. Medical Services Plan
The Medical Services Plan of British Columbia allows that all of a serviceperson’s
dependants taking up residence in British Columbia are eligible for benefits
the first day of the third month following arrival in the province. You
may register by completing an application form when reporting in accompanied,
or when dependents arrive. A brochure is available on request at the WOR. The
Medical Services Plan of British Columbia requires proof of dependant status
to validate eligibility for coverage. Therefore, personnel who require
Medical Services Plan of British Columbia coverage for their dependants must
be in possession of one of the following when reporting to the WOR: (a) Birth
certificate, (b) Baptismal certificate, © Citizenship certificate, (d) Passport,
(e) Immigration documentation, or (f) Evidence of previous registration in the
BC Medical Services Plan.
Registration of Automobiles
Base Decal: Each POMV must display a valid vehicle permit issued by the
Military Police in the form of a Base decal before the vehicle may be
operated on the Base. To obtain a Base decal you must possess a BC Drivers License, Vehicle
Registration and proof of insurance. Temporary Sticker: Providing that
the vehicle is fully insured, a temporary sticker will be issued to allow a POMV
to be registered in British Columbia.
Day Pass: Vehicles entering the Base on a single visit will be issued
a Day Pass, following proof of insurance liability.
Licensing: Incoming personnel must register vehicles within 30 days of taking
up residence in B.C. Registrations may be acquired at any ICBC or BCAA location.
Driver’s
License: A Provincial Driver’s License must be obtained within 90 days
of taking up residence. Licenses must be acquired at the BC Access Centre,
2500 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay. The province of BC requires two pieces of identification,
one of which will be an original Birth Certificate, to receive/transfer a driver’s
license. Note that individuals born in the province of Quebec must have a birth
certificate issued by the provincial authority subsequent to 1994. Birth/ Baptismal
records from local diocese are not acceptable. Additionally, should your surname
have changed as a result of marriage and differ from the name on your Birth Certificate,
an original copy of your marriage certificate will be requested. Drivers Licenses,
other than graduated licenses, are issued for a 5-year period.
Insurance: Insurance Corporation of BC (ICBC) offers graduated discounts
on car insurance premiums based on the number of claim-free years of
driving. To benefit from this provision, new arrivals from out of province
will require a letter from the previous insurance provider attesting
to their claim-free driving record. To obtain the maximum 40% discount,
records are required for the past 8 consecutive years.
