12 Wing Shearwater firefighters are enjoying the smell of a new vehicle after accepting the keys to their new fire truck. The Fort Garry Trucks Ltd fire truck was delivered to the Shearwater Fire Department November 15th, 2005 and was placed in-service on December 12th, 2005 following familiarization training.
“We are very proud to have been the first recipient of the new vehicle,” said Shearwater Fire Chief, Master Warrant Officer Dana Mullins. “The modern equipment ensures a continuation of the highest level of fire service to our members and is representative of the changes that on going at 12 Wing.”
The new vehicle replaces the department’s 1984 truck and is the first in service with the new paint scheme for the Canadian Forces Fire Service, returning the service to the traditional red.
