Bravo Master Corporal Mike Leal!
NAME: Mike Leal
RANK: Master Corporal
OCCUPATION: Avionics Technician, 2I/C Sonar Shop
UNIT: 12 AMS/ AvSO
YEARS IN THE CF: Almost 24
PREVIOUS POSTINGS: 2 RCR, CFB Gagetown, CFB Borden as a student, 12 AMS Shearwater and various attached postings to HMC Ships as a member of the Air Department.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR JOB?
I have gotten to travel to many countries in the course of my career and have experienced in all three elements. I work in the second line repair shop for the Sonar system used on the CH-124A Sea King. I enjoy having unserviceable equipment coming into the shop and seeing it go out serviceable. It is technically challenging working on the Sonar System. There is ‘NO LIFE LIKE IT’, being in the military. My family and I are proud of the work I do even if I have to go away to do it.
WHAT IS YOUR MOST RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENT?
My most recent accomplishment was that I rescued a woman from a burning car and then met her three little girls. We just celebrated the first year anniversary of that event. They bring a smile to my face every time I see them together.
