Biography

Alexander Wood is a graduate of the University of Toronto and of the Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies. His academic training is in international relations and international economics.

Alex has worked in a variety of non-profit, private, and public sector settings, focussing principally on issues of economic development and the environment. He spent ten years in Washington, DC, working on international environmental policy and environmental economics, before joining the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (NRTEE) Secretariat in January 2002. At the Round Table, he has helped lead the NRTEE's response to a major request from the Prime Minister to provide advice on a long-term climate change and energy policy for Canada. He has also directed the Round Table's Ecological Fiscal Reform and Energy program, which examined the role of fiscal policy in promoting the long-term reduction of carbon emissions from energy production and use in Canada.

His present position is Acting President and CEO of the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy.
