Socially and economically active in the regional community, 3 Wing Bagotville is one of the key and essential players in the regional life of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region.

The military and civilian personnel on base and their families are fully integrated into the region and are active in many spheres of community activity. Strong links have been fashioned over the years between the local population and the 3 Wing community.

To spotlight those ties and to provide a better understanding of the history of Base Bagotville, 3 Wing opened the Bagotville Air Defence Museum on June 18, 1997 and introduced a program of Guided Tours of the Wing.

Its Commemorative Park and collection of unique artefacts, among them the only MiG-23 in Canada, have become important attractions that seek to preserve the heritage of air defence in Canada and to strengthen its connections with the local and regional population.

3 Wing offers a variety of personnel support programs for members of the base community. The Multi-Services Centre, a community agency, also provides a multitude of programs and services for military families.
