DID YOU KNOW?
In 1998, the Royal Canadian Mint refinery first put its hallmark on gold of the highest recognized level of purity, known as "5 nines," or 99999 fine, on a numismatic coin.

Pennies, nickels, dimes…quarters, loonies, toonies. Coins that add up fast, yet lie around in countless jars and drawers. So instead of leaving your hidden treasure to collect dust, why not recycle your spare change and reward yourself with cash.

To put these coins back into circulation, the Royal Canadian Mint is recycling as many Canadian coins as possible. And that’s a very good idea, says Ian Bennett, President of the Mint. “When Canadians recycle their coins, the Royal Canadian Mint also recycles. Recycling coins is a cost-effective and efficient way for the Mint to provide coins to the marketplace.”

Keep in mind that every coin recycled is one that doesn’t have to be produced, which, in turn, preserves our precious Canadian environment and helps reduce emissions caused by smelting and mining.

Help us recycle: pick up coin carriers, fill them and turn them into cash. You’ll be amazed at how quickly your spare change adds up to something big!
