What is...
Seigniorage? The difference between a coin's face value and its production cost. The Royal Canadian Mint returns considerable seignorage to the Government of Canada: some $28 million in 2003. Since 1987, the Royal Canadian Mint has delivered approximately $1.6 billion in seigniorage to the Government of Canada.
The Mint's sponsorship and corporate donations programmes reinforce our links with the community we serve. Our corporate endeavour is to make meaningful contributions in areas that correspond to the values and commitments of the Royal Canadian Mint.
Our giving focuses primarily on three areas: - Health - Education - Arts and Sports.
The Royal Canadian Mint also supports other Government departments in certain fundraising initiatives which benefit Canadian registered charities.
