Pollution Prevention and ConservationPollution prevention follows the same philosophy as crime prevention, disease prevention and accident prevention: 'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure'. Pollution Prevention means using processes, practices, materials, products or energy that avoid or minimize the creation of pollutants and waste or environmental disturbance, and reduce risk to human health or the environment. On this website, you will find information about Alberta Environment's approach to pollution prevention, how these ideas can be incorporated into an environmental management system, components of a pollution prevention plan, and Alberta's involvement in pollution prevention initiatives. There are also some tips for preventing pollution and links to publications and resources. |
