Alberta is a land of great natural, cultural and historical wealth. Acting on behalf of the citizens of this province, Alberta Community Development is the steward of many of these resources; working to ensure that they can be enjoyed and appreciated by both the current and future generations. From the amazing dinosaurs to be discovered at the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology and Dinosaur Provincial Park, to the North American Plains Aboriginal culture on display at Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, to the rolling sand dunes and mixed wood boreal forest of Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park, Alberta Community Development is actively preserving and interpreting Alberta's many heritage treasures.
Within the ministry, two program areas--Parks and Protected Areas and Cultural Facilities and Historical Resources--are responsible for managing Alberta's diverse natural, cultural and historical resources.
