2000-2001 SWEEPS

Operation Metal Plate
Operation Metal Plate began in October 2000 when Alberta Environment distributed education packages to plating businesses operating in the Edmonton area outlining environmental responsibilities of plating companies when handling and storing the hazardous materials required in the plating process.

As a follow-up to the education program, in March 2001 Alberta Environment and City of Edmonton inspectors made unannounced inspections of a number of companies to ensure they had implemented the required storage and handling methods.
