ComplianceAlberta's environmental legislation sets out clear rules and obligations for the protection, enhancement and wise use of the environment. Ensuring compliance with the law is an important part of Alberta Environment’s business. To be effective, these laws must be understood and enforced in a timely and consistent manner that is clear to regulators, industry and the public. Through education and prevention programs, and strict enforcement measures, Alberta Environment ensures that individuals, municipalities and industry follow the laws and regulations Alberta has in place to protect our environment. Those who do not comply with the law are held responsible and accountable for the effects of their actions on the environment. Every suspected violation that comes to the attention of Alberta Environment is assessed and responded to in an appropriate and timely manner. |
