FOIP, Records, Information and Management Branch

The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act aims to strike a balance between the public's right to access records and the protection of personal privacy, as these rights relate to information held by the Government of Alberta. This law, proclaimed October 1st, 1995, affects all provincial departments, agencies, boards and commissions.

Records or information not publicly or routinely available under Alberta Environment's legislation can be requested under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act using the Request to Access Information form. To assist with Alberta Environment's search for records, be sure to include the Identifying Search Criteria (page 3 of the form) with your access request.

For more information, visit the Government of Alberta's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Web site.
