Maintenance Enforcement Program
Contact
Print Version

The Maintenance Enforcement Program (MEP) processes a high volume of telephone calls and mail daily. By following these simple rules, you can help us serve you more promptly.

When contacting MEP we request that you send in only one letter or message. Multiple correspondence regarding the same issue will only result in delays in responding to you and will negatively affect service to all MEP clients.

1. MEP Accounts Online and the MEP Info Line

The most convenient means of keeping informed and providing information on your MEP file is through use of MEP Accounts Online or the MEP Info Line. Clients of MEP may access our Internet service, MEP Accounts Online, or our automated phone system, the MEP Info Line, for general and file specific information 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For privacy and protection clients are assigned a confidential personal identification number (PIN) that will allow them to obtain personal account information from MEP Accounts Online, and the MEP Info Line or leave messages regarding their account in a secure mailbox.

Some of the options available to clients through MEP Accounts Online and the MEP Info Line include the ability to:

  • access the current status of your account
  • view and print a statement of account
  • provide information for updating your address or file.

MEP Accounts Online can be accessed through this website: click on MEP Accounts Online in the left-hand menu. Clients can access the MEP Info Line by calling (780) 422-5555 in Edmonton or dial 310-0000 for toll-free access anywhere in Alberta. Clients should have their seven digit MEP account number and PIN available when using the Internet service or calling.

2. Client Services Centre

Questions on your account can be handled quickly and efficiently by collection officers in our Client Services Centre. Incoming calls are taken from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and noon to 4:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Call (780) 422-5555 in the Edmonton area, or dial 310-0000 for toll-free access anywhere in Alberta. As your seven digit MEP account number accesses your account within our system, it is to your benefit to memorize it or have it handy when phoning MEP.

3. Write us

If you choose instead to write or fax MEP, please ensure that you print your correct account number and name on all correspondence you send, and that you sign all letters. Letters received by fax or mail are sorted and prioritized. MEP attempts to initiate a response to all items within a maximum of 30 days; see MEP's service delivery targets.

MEP's address and fax number are:

MAINTENANCE ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM
7th Flr. J.E. Brownlee Building
10365 - 97 Street
Edmonton, AB
T5J 3W7

FAX (780) 401-7575

You may also send general inquiries to MEP by e-mail at albertamep@gov.ab.ca. MEP's service delivery targets are also applied to e-mails.

4. 401-TIPS (8477)

To give anonymous information about a debtor call 401-TIPS (8477). For toll-free access in Alberta dial 310-0000.

5. Problems with the website
