Pesticide ManagementThe Pesticide Management Program provides environmental protection through the administration and enforcement of provincial pesticide legislation. Pesticides are regulated in Alberta through requirements for safe distribution, storage, use, and disposal. Inspectors and investigators located in the Department's three Regions conduct routine operation inspections and respond to public and industry complaints regarding improper pesticide management. Environmental monitoring data collected by the Department is reviewed as part of the Pesticide Management Program to provide an early warning system for potential pesticide problems which can be addressed through changes in management practices.
