Our Business

Our business includes:

  • coordinating the budget;
  • managing debt;
  • forecasting Alberta's economic future;
  • keeping taxes fair, competitive and simple;
  • analyzing financial trends;
  • regulating insurance, pensions and financial institutions;
  • developing policy;
  • long-term revenue and investment policy;
  • managing revenue programs;
  • managing and investing financial assets;
  • managing risk associated with liability exposure and loss of public assets; and
  • regulating and fostering Alberta's capital market.

The people at Alberta Finance are responsible for all the financial operations of the Alberta Government. We don't make the decisions. Politicians decide how the money is spent based on what they hear from Albertans.  We make sure that their instructions are carried out.
