Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) provides financial and medical benefits to adults under the age of 65 years who have a permanent and severe disability that severely impairs their ability to earn a livelihood.
An applicant's assets and income are taken into account in determining eligibility and benefit levels for AISH program participants. A monthly benefit called Modified AISH may be paid to disabled persons living in a hospital, nursing home, or other facility listed in AISH regulations.
