The Ministry of Human Resources and Employment includes the Department of Alberta Human Resources and Employment (AHRE), the Personnel Administration Office, the Alberta Labour Relations Board, the Appeals Commission for Alberta Workers' Compensation, and the Workers' Compensation Board.
The department of Alberta Human Resources and Employment is building Alberta's workforce by:
Informing people about Alberta's labour market, employment standards and workplace issues- Providing labour market information to industry and employers
- Assisting Albertans with their careers
- Promoting fair workplaces
- Promoting inter-provincial labour mobility
- Attracting and assisting immigrants
Developing the skills and knowledge of Albertans and supporting high performance workplaces
- Providing Albertans with job-related skills and workplace training
- Funding education and upgrading programs
- Increasing participation of under-represented groups
Retaining workers in Alberta's labour force
- Promoting safe, healthy and productive workplaces
- Helping to resolve labour disputes
- Providing financial and health benefits to workers with low incomes
