Alberta Agriculture, Food and Rural Development's agriculture education and training branch is now offering the Home Study Weed Management Course in a blended learning model, combining both print and on-line learning. This course is targeted to pesticide applicators and agriculture field workers as well as Alberta producers. The focus is understanding and creating good weed management practices to avoid problems before they reduce production. The course will be offered on-line from Olds College at two different times, each lasting approximately ten weeks. The course will be first offered from September 29, 2006, to December 8, 2006, and then a second time from February 2, 2007, to April 13, 2007. Students will register through Olds College. Course fee is $125 plus GST and includes the on-line course as well as the updated binder and workbook. Upon course completion, students may apply for credits towards their Alberta Pesticide Applicator's License. For registration information, contact Mary Jane Block by phone at (403) 507-7761.
