| The Manure Management Update 2007 conference is being held at the Lethbridge Lodge Hotel on January 15, 2007. Organized by Alberta Agriculture, Food and Rural Development and the Southern Applied Research Association, the conference features a full day of presentations, including:
- update on regulation changes
- introducing Alberta Agriculture’s confined feeding operations (CFO) extension program
- enforcing manure management regulations
- agronomic application of manure and compost for irrigated cereal silage production
- strategies to increase manure nitrogen recovery by crops
- how to maximize nutrient recovery through composting
- impact of soil phosphorus on surface water quality – results of the P-limits study
- soil and manure test results – what do the numbers mean?
- crop management and rotations to manage high phosphorus soils
- use of composted manure to optimize potato production
The full-day conference will end with a producer and industry panel that will discuss the marketing of manure and marketing mechanisms. Early registration fee is $45 per person, before January 3, 2007. After that date, the registration fee will be $55 per person. Registration will be limited to the first 200 registrants.
